    best opening titles I know.

  2. Fazai38 says:

Yea… this is the best opening that i still remember…

  3. Mark says:

I love watching these titles; they’re so entertaining, and preview the events in the movie.

  4. VMAN says:

I just watched this the other day. This reminds of Monster’s Inc. title sequence. We should have more stuff like this. This is by far one of the more creative title sequences I’ve seen in a long time.

  5. Sabrina says:

What are the two typefaces being used?

  6. An excellent introduction title scene indeed!
    Brilliantly constructed.

Trust though, Steven Spielberg directed it!

  7. yuna says:

Actually the design is great thanks to Kuntzel + Deygas :)

  8. Susanna-Cole says:

Hands down, one of my favorite title sequences of all movies I’ve seen. Usually I skip the credits, but I was glued watching the wonderful design and animation of the credits in CMIYC. :)

  9. guidou says:

great credits secuence, but as somebody said, it describes the events of the movie almost ‘literally’; a good credit secuence must do this but in a symbollic way, describe what it’s going to happen in the film, or what is going to be about (the ‘topic’ of the film, not the events).
nevertheless, this credits have a nice style and it’s entertaining

  10. Latent says:

Very elegant opening title. Made with pride im sure. As ‘guidou’ quotes there may be very suggestive scenes within this credit sequence. However as the old cliché goes it is not only a conclusion that is of interest but the story that developes it. How would the blurb have survived for so long?… Fair point but I feel they only serve to entice the viewer. More of this please!

  11. Pam says:

One of my favorites. I don’t think it gives too much away as it’s only more obvious after viewing the entire movie.

  12. Derek says:

I’m trying to do a little research on the inspiration for this sequence. Does anyone know any direct references, by name specifically? I know there’s a little Saul Bass… some Art Chantry influence… and general 60′s and 70′s illustration styles, but can anyone put a name on it? Any ideas on a place to look for good visual reference?

The Mr. Magorium title sequence has similar reference and style. Any ideas anyone?

  13. Kasper says:

    Who animated/designet this title sequence?

    • bob says:

The title sequence is designed and animated by Kuntzel + Degas, a couple of french artists : http://www.kuntzeldeygas.com/
It is inspired from the book, not from the movie. So, as guidou said, “it describes the events of the movie almost **literally** “, hahaha.

      One of my favorites.

I still remember this > < This opening sequence made me recognise that there exists something! that i should be carefully to see in the beginning of the movie!! :)
