I've watched the movie several times on DVD and I never stopped loving it. I even had my students in lit class watch this. I liked how the director continually showed clips of the characters who would play a part in Harold Crick's 'imminent' death-- the female bus driver, the child in his bicycle. Marc Forster did a good job in 'telling the story' and keeping the audience guessing as to the what part these characters (earlier mentioned) would play in the latter part of the film.

This are a perfect transition from story to titles to story again. And, like Gilmour said, it is a somewhat gutting experience when you watch the titles by themselves and the movie doesn't continue. Simultaneously, the treatment is so polished that the sequence easily holds up as a piece on its own. The combination of these two things makes for a wonderful, albeit somewhat rare, film title experience.

My favorite opening sequence. Watched the movie on DVD and went back to watch the titles again. And I liked the movie, too.

MK12 did the most recent bond... the titles are among the highlights of that film as well. Same director, too, Marc Forster. He must've been as impressed as we all were.

I love the Title sequence of this movie, and Emma Thompson's Voice over with it as well! The movie is great too!
What is this called (typography and video integration)?

I loved this movie from the opening sequence and the narrative that they use to suck you in. I saw this movie 3 times in the theaters and wanted to bring a camera in with me to take a picture of the end titles. This is 100% my favorite thing on the planet and I'm really happy to see a site dedicated to this part of my brain.

I really like this title sequence, and it shows the future to a large degree of what designer will do with motion tracking.

It is always a bit more pulling in when a mix of film and typography are introduced.

I really like this title sequence.

I must say first of all at the end of this sequence I was gutted that the movie didn't just continue, as it totally sucked me in to the narrative! Luckily Sky Movies is repeating this movie ad nauseum this week & I've since satisfied that urge. It's a great little movie (a romantic comedy that is genuine, quirky, romantic and funny plus not in the least bit sappy or over sentimental) and this title sequence is a great way to introduce it. In fact, it's one of the most enjoyable sequences I've seen. The opening is better than the close which is a bit too messy for my taste, but still it's all good work.

The use of the diagramatical information really helps convey the obsessive compulsive nature of the character and is executed very well.

I had been avoiding this movie for some reason, thanks to Alex/webmaster for bringing this to my attention, I loved the sequence and loved the movie too!
