The Art of the Title Sequence

Max Payne

Licking tongues of fiery fire and tinkling looking-glass shards of pebbled glass bring softcore sizzle for the Guns & Ammo set.

Picture Mill’s vision for the end titles for “Max Payne” feature a locked and loaded font worthy of Thor that has you in its sights like a well oiled Reagan-era actioner.

Bullet holes as full flooded spotlights! Well worn gunmetal in recoil! Mayhem ensues.

The weight of typographics is really robust and hard.
I really like the 3D guns. Love the textures and specular.
Haven’t seen the movie yet, but I imagine the movie being an action filled shooter.

    @ Xander
… Let’s just say the titles could very well be the best part of this movie…

  • sparkyd

I like it, but it’s basically a masturbation movie for gun-nuts. It’s like a porn money-shot compilation but with guns.

  • http://www.lowlow.nl Xander Smalbil

    Hmm we’ll see.

  • Robot

Pretty nice CG but great sound design

It’s refreshing to see some Bold Titles. Love the silver and red text, and of course the sound design always makes it kick arse.

  • blah

Incredibly cheese effects on the type there.
There is a point when you have to sit back and show some restraint, its the title equivalent of pimp my ride.
    Gaudy nonsense

Some pretty phallic stuff going on here, but having played the game I kept my tongue firmly planted in cheek. The first few seconds were a little dull though. It looked like someone throwing fire crackers at static text.

The best part is the sound, could have done cooler things with the text, but we can’t have everything I suppose

  • brian valentine

only thing i really, really liked was the glass effect. video game movie with video game style rendering. meh.

  • Frame Films

Mmmeh, not so impressed, very distracting I would say. I think it was just too much of everything, fire, glass, guns, bullet shells, gun holes etc. Not the best sound and NOT the best music.

  • Geoff Billingham

the text is nice but i can’t really see any pattern or flow in the sequence, its basically shooting guns for the sake of it (well i should know better saying that for a film like this) but theres not purpose and the sound design is crappy but the 3D work is quite good i will say that

  • Ickemixe

    Brilliant!

    • Ickemixe

      oops, wrong tab.
