The effects were superb and the CGI for the action sequences were solid. I guess the one thing that detracts from the movie is just how seriously it takes itself. The Hulk is all about action and if you watched the theatrical trailers, you'd expect as much.

Ang Lee took the movie in a different direction, making the Hulk out to be an emotional character wanting to be left alone and who'd suffered a lot of pain and emotional turmoil throughout his life. I'm just not sure audiences could really connect with a CGI character. As good as the CGI is, the Hulk was still lacking a soul. The movie might've worked if it was a real actor playing the Hulk who could really bring out the Hulk's emotion. That's just a guess:)

I was expecting a lot more of "Hulk Smash!" The 2008 version does it well while still keeping the balance between action and drama.

So creative and wonderous. And Danny Elfman's theme music was certainly not of this world!

I don't think Ang lee got due credit for this film. If it had been under any other title other than the 'Hulk' franchise name, then it probably would have gotten drastically different results from critics and movie goers.

I was floored when I first saw this opening credit sequence--it so perfectly set the comic booky tone of the film. I don't understand why such an imaginative film is so underrated.

I like looking at the WIP clip. It's cool to see where they were in the early stages, and how it changed in the final cut.

The title sequences in this film are certainly memorable. (or maybe it's just their imitation for the Hulk ride at Universal studios I saw ten thousand times waiting in line one day)

Thank you for such a thorough look into the creation of these titles. Can't wait for next week. I always prefer titles that advance narrative but at the same time exist apart in some transcendent, slightly oblique, microcosm of the feature. And when they finish, you are wholly deposited in cinema's mimesis and prepared to exist within the film proper.
